Daily Devotional for Saturday November 21, 2020
***DAILY PERSONAL PRAYER FOR YOU: Dear Lord, as we prepare to celebrate Your birth in a few weeks, prepare my heart to make this Christmas a special time in my life. I pray that the impact of God’s gift to the world will be felt by my, my family and friends, and the world we live in. Thank You for Your love for me, personally, and help me to be able to repay that love as I share it with everyone I come in contact with during this Christmas season. May the evil the penetrates this world today, give in to the JOY of celebrating Your birth! I ask and pray this in the name of Jesus…AMEN!!!
***THE DAILY LIVEPRAYER TV NUGGET: Several months ago I shared a word with you that I could see the tyrannical Democratic governors of states like California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Oregon, and Washington to name a few, with the full support of the propagandists masquerading as the media, telling people they had to forget Thanksgiving and soon after that Christmas! Sadly I was correct. No matter what you feel about the Chinese Flu, whether it was purposely released on the world or a horrible accident, masks help or masks don’t make a difference, whether states should lockdown or not, NOBODY CAN DENY THAT MANY POLITICIANS HAVE USED THIS ONCE IN A CENTURY PANDEMIC TO ADVANCE A POLITICAL AGENDA! For instance, I am blessed to live in Florida. Our state has had lots of people infected, more deaths than some states but not as many as others. Outside of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale which are basically suburbs of New York and New Jersey, we have lived our lives virtually as normal as we always have. There has been very little interruption of daily life in most of Florida. The point is, in Florida and other states like Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, and others, life has been fairly normal because our governors didn’t use this crisis to exert control, much of it unconstitutional, over their people! I spent the first 30 minutes of the Liveprayer TV program on Thursday night to comprehensively talk about these issues and would encourage you to watch it and share it with family and friends! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUp35fB3HiY ) Nobody can argue 9 months into this outbreak, that there are certain politicians who have decided to use this health crisis to control the people of their state. Probably nothing cuts to the deepest parts of most people’s hearts like the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. They serve as guideposts over the years of our life. One of the special moments most every family celebrates at this time of year, is the remembrance of our loved ones who are no longer with us. Looking back on holidays past is something we all do. As we get older, we realize with each holiday season that it could be our last. TO WATCH MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, MANY WHO HAVE THEIR OWN AGENDA, DISGUSTING, CONSCIENELESS POLITICIANS, ALONG WITH THE HOLLOW, PATHETIC NARCISSISTS WHO ARE THE ANTITHESIS OF WHAT THE MEDIA IS SUPPOSED TO BE...USE THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS TO BREAK WHAT LITTLE HOPE AND SPIRIT MANY HAVE AFTER THIS DIFFICULT YEAR...MAKES ME LITERALLY SICK TO MY STOMACHE AND RILES AN ANGER INSIDE ME THAT I RARELY ALLOW TO EXIST!!!!!!! The numbers have never changed on the Chinese Flu. 95% of those who die are over 65, 98% have some pre-existing medical issue. While it is highly contagious, it is also not lethal to over 99.9% of those who are outside of the core demographic at most risk. I am not minimizing any of the 260,000 who have lost their life over these past 9 months. However, it is OBVIOUS that we have NO CLUE if that number is even accurate based on the CDC’s own reporting where other issues were at play in most every death. The fact is we will ALL DIE ONE DAY! Of course nobody wants to die early needlessly, but people are dying every day from heart attacks, cancer, car accidents, alcoholism, and hundreds of other ways! Every family has to pray and use common sense about how they will handle the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, but at 62 and thankfully in good medical condition, I still realize tomorrow is promised to none of us and I refuse to live my life in fear and certainly will not be hiding in my basement during this most special time of the year!!! Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your turkey and dressing, and have a most blessed celebration of the birth of our Lord!!!

With Thanksgiving next week and Christmas ahead, it is a time of year for great feasts. In my years of ministry, I could always get the "Amen corner" into my sermons when I preached against homosexuality, preached against the more visible sins. On those occasions when I preached on the sin of gluttony, it usually got very quiet. I realize this will be a difficult read for many today, but that is one reason I am here to challenge you.
Let me say right up front, gluttony IS a sin. God said so. Anything that you do in excess, to your detriment, to the detriment of your ability to serve God, that is ahead of your daily relationship with God, is a sin.
Let me also add something very important. There are just as many skinny gluttons as overweight gluttons! Let me say that once more. There are just as many skinny gluttons as overweight gluttons. Being overweight can be caused by many things, and just because a person is heavy, does NOT mean they are a glutton. Again, ANYTHING that you put ahead of your relationship with the Lord is a sin. If you are a thin person, but put food ahead of your relationship with Christ, you are a glutton!
I know that during the Holiday season many sit down to some incredible feasts. I am not saying you shouldn't, and I am not saying you should not enjoy food. I believe God gave us food to nourish our body, our taste buds to enjoy food, and eating is a wonderful part of our life. Gluttony however refers to eating in excess. I know many fine men and women of God that live tremendous lives and do great works for the Lord. However, this is an area that they struggle with and that is why I bring it to you today.
Like all sin, gluttony can be overcome, not in our own strength, but in His. Like all sins, if you fight this battle, you need a battle plan. God can give you that plan, the strength to carry it out, and the perseverance to get victory. Like in other sins though, the question becomes, do you really want victory? Do you really want to conquer this foe? Do you even recognize that this is a problem in your life?
At this point, you have either accepted through the prompting of the Holy Spirit that this is an issue in your life, or you have realized that this is not something that you battle with. If you are in the latter category, then I would encourage you to pray for those who do fight this battle each day.
I have no doubt that you know people in your family, school, workplace, church, that are going through this struggle. Pray for them today. Pray that the Lord would open their eyes and show them this is a problem they need to deal with. Pray that they will have the courage, like anyone who is dealing with a specific sin, to admit it and allow the Lord to help them get victory over gluttony.
I love you, care about you, and realize the sensitive nature of this sin. But there is no use in hiding it or candy-coating the problem. It is time to recognize it as a problem, and get busy fighting it and letting God help you to become victorious over this battle in your life.
If you are struggling with gluttony today, I will be praying specifically for you. I realize what a difficult struggle this can be. If you will take that first step, admit this is a problem, God will help you be victorious in this battle with gluttony!
In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
